I have always loved working alone and for the life of me, I could not understand how people were able to stay focused in co-working space. It wasn’t until I tried working from a coworking space that I ever considered giving up my private office. Here’s what I picked up on and why I’ve made the decision to trade in my private office for a coworking space:
I Saved Money
Renting coworking space is more cost-effective than paying for a private office space. Think about it – I was sharing kitchen space, power, data, and other amenities. These expenses were no longer my bill to pay.
This may seem obvious, but when it comes to running a business, you have to take into consideration your costs. If you can get the same work done, why not consider saving a few hundred dollars a month?
I Strengthened My Network
Coworking spaces allow professionals and entrepreneurs to mingle. It’s not uncommon to run into someone who offers a service or a skill that will benefit you and vice versa. Since trading my private space in, I’ve been able to build a strong network and even sparked a few friendships. We’ve thrown each other referrals and connected each other with individuals and resources that have yielded great benefits.
I Learned New skills
I had always had a basic knowledge of copywriting but I had never taken time to further my expertise. It wasn’t until I partnered with a friend that I met at my coworking space that I realized the opportunities that I was passing up on by not having a good copywriter on my team.
At the time, I wasn’t interested in pushing out hundreds of dollars on a copywriter so we decided to barter services. She trained me on how to write compelling copy and in return, I taught her how to create amazing graphics with Adobe Illustrator.
Learning is so much harder when it’s done alone. The plethora of skills that I’m surrounded by gives me the opportunity to build relationships, and with those relationships, I’m able to connect with different experts.
So yes, I traded in my private office for a coworking space and it’s one of the best decisions that I’ve made in my business. I suggest you try it out!
