Gals of ‘FRIENDS’ Support Courteney Cox on Hollywood Star Award

Courteney Cox Earns Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

by Ivy June
Even as the sky darkened and the rain began to pour, Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow were still determined to be there for their long-time Friends costar Courteney Cox at her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony.
On an overcast Monday, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce awarded Cox the 2,750th star in a ceremony attended by her close pals and former costars. Aniston and Kudrow then delivered a joint speech, recalling their almost threedecade-long friendship.
“We are honored to be here today to pay tribute to you as our colleagues, friends, family and sisters,” Aniston began, and Kudrow quickly followed, adding “We’ve known each other for close to 30 years now. It’s quite amazing.” Aniston then lightheartedly suggested that 30 must be a typo, only for Kudrow to quickly assure her that it was not.
But anyway. “It’s an honor to be friends with Courtney. Since we met her, she has been so welcoming and warm. She really showed us what it was like to be part of a family. I was so nervous to meet her as I was a huge fan,” Aniston recalled. Kudrow further added, “She was the only one of us who had already had fame. She taught us the importance of sticking together, showing us how an ensemble cast should work.”
In addition to Aniston, Kudrow and Cox, Friends also starred David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry and Matt LeBlanc. On the show, Cox gained international recognition as Monica Geller, a role that was so impactful that she mentioned it in her speech during the ceremony.
“Friends taught me the importance of camaraderie and togetherness. I learned so much during those times and being part of a cast like this, who were so supportive and understanding of each other, made me understand how powerful relationships can be,” Cox shared.
After Friends, Cox went on to star in shows such as Cougar Town and Shining Vale, and in movies such as the Scream franchise. In fact, Prince Harry’s recently released memoir Spare even had a brief mention of her, although she coyly remarked during the ceremony, “I haven’t read the book, but I’ve heard it’s quite entertaining.”
